The St. Luke’s Half Marathon, 5K and youth run is held in Allentown, PA during April.
The half marathon cost ranges between $60 – $100 depending upon when you register and personalized bibs are available if you register before March 15. There is an additional $20 charge to pick up your bib on race day. Registration includes a lightweight long sleeve 1/4 zip tech shirt.
Getting to the designated parking lot in the morning was difficult due to closed roads. I’m unfamiliar with the area and the closed roads were very confusing trying to get in / out. I would suggest signage and information to runners driving themselves on race day.
The race start did not have corrals, the start was quick and easy. The course was a nice out and back and relatively flat. For those going for a faster pace or PR, the terrain changed a little bit from road to a crushed trail. The trail was flat without any obstacles, however, one section had a few pot holes. The course also went under a covered bridge with planked boards.
Bands along the course were entertaining though some were playing slow, boring music, music should definitely be upbeat for runners. Race support along the course was abundant and restroom availability on the course were great. The after party was pretty bland. I don’t remember a band or DJ being at the finish. No after beer 😦 (I run for the beers).
This was my 11th half marathon, I ran this race as a long slow distance training run as part of my full marathon training.
